In 2024 Arte Fiera celebrates its first fifty years, a milestone that no other Italian art fair has yet reached. Back in 1974 BolognaFiere introduced a section dedicated to modern and contemporary art within the Fiera Campionaria, a choice that proved an immediate success with the participation of ten galleries in the first edition and an explosive increase to 200 galleries already the following year.
To celebrate Arte Fiera’s 50th birthday, the appointment is February 2 to 4. Among the most important surprises is the unprecedented collaboration with BPER Banca, which becomes the main partner of the event, or the intervention of Luisa Lambri for the Opus Novum project.
For the 2024 edition, as many as 171 exhibitors will be present at the event, with the return of several prominent galleries who, after a 2023 marked by a significant post-Covid recovery, have decided to participate again. These long-awaited galleries include Apalazzo Gallery, Laveronica, Lia Rumma, Lorenzelli Arte, Franco Noero, Ronchini and Sprovieri.
Within Halls 25 and 26, the classic division will be maintained between the Main Section, which includes both historical and contemporary artworks, and three curated invitation-only sections. The Photography and Moving Images section will be curated by Giangavino Pazzola of Camera Torino and will focus on exploring the medium of photography from a broad perspective, putting it in dialogue with other media. The Painting XXI section, once again curated by Davide Ferri, will be dedicated to contemporary painting. The Multiples section will see the entry of Alberto Salvadori in the organization of the space dedicated to editioned works, which include books and artist’s jewelry, with the participation of specialized publishers and bookstores together with galleries. In addition, the fair also confirms the desire to create a path that goes beyond the division into sections, suggesting a thematic itinerary to be followed through some of the Main Section stands.
